Your response must be at least 14 sentences and no longer than 20.

please read instruction thoroughly! I will post the reply as soon as you complete this. Then I will write back to you and show you 2 classmates that will need the response.Thanks.
I hope you enjoyed reading this book!
As I mentioned in the Guideline document there are so many aspects of this book we can discuss.
Choose one of the questions below and write a knowledgeable response, that demonstrates you read the book and considered the information presented. Your response must be at least 14 sentences and no longer than 20. ( worth up to 14 points for a well-written and informative post)
Respond to at least TWO other peoples posts in a knowledgeable way; each post must be at least 6 sentences long and be more than an agreement statement, meaning you need to include some substance in your response, such as other information you learned from the book that you didn’t already state in your original post (3 points for each response).
Do NOT repeat information in your replies that someone else has already posted (you must make your initial post before you see other people’s posts). Read other posts/replies before responding to others. You will be DOCKED points if you repeat information.
Use proper grammar and punctuation in your posts. Remember this is an upper division college course and your writing needs to reflect this standing. You will be DOCKED points for grammatical errors/sloppiness. I highly encourage everyone to write their answers in a word doc and use spelling and grammar check and then copy and paste it into the discussion post. Always proofread your work.
Question Choices: ONLY CHOOSE ONE
Consider how different things would have been if a reputable interpreter was involved in all the encounters between the Lee family and medical professionals.
After reading this book explain the importance of hospitals hiring interpreters and/or cultural liaisons/medical anthropologists.
Discuss one of the most tragic cross-cultural misunderstandings you read in the book.
Where do the Hmong originally come from, how are they socially organized, why did they end up in Northern Southeast Asia?
What are some of the Hmong’s strongest cultural characteristics, what was their traditional form of social control?
What was “The War” and why were the Hmong involved? Who were they fighting with and who were they fighting against?
Why did the Hmong become refugees in America (and elsewhere around the world)?  How did American’s view them? Discuss at least one cultural aspects that changed once they became refugees in America.
Discuss in detail one or two aspects of the refugee process ( it may include: getting to a refugee camp, living in a refugee camp, applying for asylum in another country, or the process of getting approved to migrate to another country).
What is Secondary Migration? Why did so many Hmong families end up in Merced, California?

In this assignment, you will examine how anthropologists from two different subfields can study evolution (change over time).

Purpose:
Anthropologists study many different aspects of humanity in order to fully understand the diversity of the human species. Remember, evolution can apply to both physical and societal changes, so things like language and customs can evolve just as much as bodies and brains. In this assignment, you will examine how anthropologists from two different subfields can study evolution (change over time). Be sure you download the attached worksheet, fill it out, and submit it. Other formats (for example, a paper, will not be accepted)
Directions:
In the table that is provided, type your answers to these questions:
Explain what physical anthropology is, and how physical anthropologists study evolution. Find at least one scholarly source that identifies a specific research project in which physical anthropologists study evolution (e.g. the Human Genome Project- conduct your own original research, do not use this example). Describe the research project and its significance in our understanding of evolution.
Choose a second subfield of anthropology (cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology, or archaeology). Explain what the second subfield focuses on, and how anthropologists in this subfield study evolution. Find at least one scholarly source that identifies a specific research project in which anthropologist from this subfield study evolution. For example, an archaeologist may look at how tools have changed through time, and what has caused that change (conduct your own original research, do not use this example). Describe the research project and its significance in our understanding of evolution.
Compare and contrast how physical anthropologists and anthropologists in the subfield you chose study evolution.

Essays should be between 300-500 words

Choose any two readings between the start of the semester to today and write a short essay summarizing them and discussing how they relate to each other. You may discuss how they differ, what they agree on, or how the concepts they discuss influence each other. For example, if you choose to examine Myth & Meaning by Levi-Strauss and Magic, Science & Religion by Malinowski, you could say how both are framing the relationship between knowledge production and social organization, and how science differs from mythology in how power is distributed across society.

Option 1: Motel of the Mysteries is a well-known book among archaeologists (see basic descriiption in Smith, 2009). This humorous (now sadly out of print) book takes a look at how an archaeologist of the future might look at a late 20th century roadside motel.
While our artifacts make sense to us, how might they preserve and be interpreted by future archaeologists? Choose one room in your home, workplace, community and describe one artifact for us, then explain some potential uses of that artifact. See if folks in class can guess your artifact!

write a 3-page double-spaced essay arguing for and explaining your approach to

write a 3-page double-spaced essay arguing for and explaining your approach to ‘America Eats II’ (a today-version of the original America Eats project, upon which the Kurlansky text is also based). In the process, your essay should articulate critical perspectives on what American foodways reveal about American, and more broadly Western, culture and society.
In other words, imagine you are proposing to re-do the America Eats project. Tell me what kinds of entries you’re going to seek out and include in your book (cite some of the examples you’ve come across in reading and film this term). Be sure to also tell me why these are important for understanding American culture and society.
