After this thesis, i would also like to ask to write the bachelor’s thesis.

I need 2-page of the bachelor thesis proposal first before writing my bachelor thesis.
For instance, when occupations are translated from a language like English, which mostly uses gender-neutral words, to a language like German, which mostly uses a feminine and a masculine version for an occupation, a decision must be made by the MT System. Recent research showed that MT systems are biased toward stereotypical translations of occupations.
I would like to reconstruct the attached study.
As I was suggested to use studies that define gender verbs and adjectives, any suggestions regarding this are welcome.

This article looks into phonetic representations in infants in bilingual households being exposed to French and English from birth and compares it to the phonetic representations of infants born in monolingual households being exposed only to English. This article uses infants across three age groups: 6-8, 10-12 and 14-20 months in order to see if bilingual infants would develop and show two phonetic representations for both English and French. The speech sounds chosen for the test groups were from a narrow range of the VOT continuum as English and French languages place their boundaries between the voiced and voiceless categories differently. The findings of the first experiment with 6-8 year olds, as expected due to their young age, saw no real differences between the two categories of test subjects. The second experiment testing infants 14-20 months old found much different results, as instead of responding alike, the bilingual infants responded quickly to both English and French showing their sensitivity to phonetic boundaries consistent with both languages. In their third and final experiment, they looked at ages 10-12 months finding similar results to the second experiment as the bilingual infants were able to notice the phonetic boundaries of both languages. Overall, the researchers found through the results of the second and third studies that the time in which a bilingual infant takes to develop phonetic representation in both French and English is not delayed, and may be very similar to monolingual infants.

Answer the following question. (Total 100 marks)
Question
This is a mini-research project which appraises the issues surrounding sociolinguistic approaches to language and power – specifically, critical sociolinguistics.
Critical sociolinguistics aims to contribute to addressing social inequities through changes in the way we speak or use language in general. In other words, as an approach to the study of social discourse, it assumes that language is implicated in social inequalities, so its main concern is to find out how this is so and what can be done to change it for the betterment of society.
Your task:
Select a context (e.g. home, school, office, hospital, courtroom, shop) which will enable you to carry out a critical sociolinguistic observation of power differentials at play.
Based on actual data examples in your chosen context, examine and critique the issue of language variation and use. Data sources may include but not be limited to:
• Written and spoken media
• Electronic communication
• Cross-cultural/cross-ethnic communication
In your critique, discuss some of the factors affecting language and power. You may wish to consider the following variables:
• social distance between the speaker and the addressee
• relative power of one over the other
• degree of imposition associated with the interaction (in terms of, for example, goods and services required);
• relative status of language or dialect, code-switching
• age, gender and class
• politeness markers such as pronoun choice
• power and resistance, signs of struggle
• register and style
• use of anti-language

Marking will be holistic. The following percentage breakdown only indicates the relative importance of the various components.

I have decided to use my all-time favourite movie, Matilda (1996), to critically analyse the language and power used in this film. My Research Critical Analysis Essay will also look at child’s rights, origins, and development regarding young people and children. As my media theme source is analysed, I will provide a debate or argument about it. I will examine the policies related to children’s rights in care (UNICEF’s Convention on the Rights of the Child) and critically analyse the media source alongside some sociolinguistics and early childhood theories. The paper should consider how these ideas play out from the early childhood teacher’s perspective at the present world. The paper will be positive and inspirational. My media source Matilda will be looking at power and powerlessness and the notion of advocacy. At the end of the essay, I will summarise and pull together all the arguments.
Matilda’s (1996) movie in a nutshell: Sweet and bright little Matilda Wormwood, a child of wondrous intelligence, is different from the rest of her family. After being misunderstood by everyone and ignored at home, she escapes into a world of reading, honing her skills, and exercising her mind so much that she develops telekinetic abilities.

your own experience, a conversation you overheard, an audio recording, a video, a TV show, a
newspaper, a novel, an email message… In a nutshell, anything you encounter in your everyday
life. You will write a short summary of this observation, answering the three questions below. You
should draw on what we have learned in the course this semester in order to make your
observation and to demonstrate your understanding of how it relates to the concepts, previous
research, and methodologies that we have encountered.

Note that we are describing language use, not judging it, so avoid prescriiptive value
judgements and stereotyping.

Your observations do not have to be about English – in fact, you are encouraged to share
observations on other languages (though this is not a requirement).
